[Aireacha] Ceist Chapter 30 on EA

     In chapter 30 on page 46 of the green book it gives examples of when you 
use the pronoun EA. I have been told this is a neuter pronoun.

Example one.....An scoláire tú?
Answer.............Sea (Is ea), yes

Tú could refer to a masuline person or a femine person so I would have used é 
 or í here (Is é or  Is í ) .

Example two.....An peann é seo?
Answer............Ní hea.

Pen is a masuline noun so I would have used é

Is EA used to answer any question posed with the copula requiring a yes or no 
answer  with a pronoun and if so why does gender not matter here?
