[Aireacha] Jerry's multimedia files have a strange error

I'm using RealPlayer at the moment. I also tried QuicTime which did give me
both the audio and video without asking me about looking for an "updated"
file. I happen to use RealPlayer because its controls and information about
the file are much better than QuickTime. I also tried Windows Media Player
which simply doesn't seem to recognize that there is a video part of the
.avi file. Since avi is meant to carry video (it stands for Interleaved
Video and Audio), it seems a little strange the Windows Media Player doesn't
recognize this.
There is one possibility, on the part of this non-expert, that may explain
all of this behavior. PERHAPS, the header material on the avi file does not
correctly identify the fact that it is carrying both audio and video. Thus
only the audio is picked up on the first pass on incoming file. The both
QuickTime and RealPlayer pick up and process information later in the file
that indicates the presence of a video component. QuickTime gets the file
re-transmitted on its own and puts the video with the audio. RealPlayer
somehow needs to ask this unnecessary question, but then retrieves the file
for a second pass and gets the video. Windows Media Player never picks up
the information that video is present. If this explanation is true, someone
has to check the avi file headers to see if they up to the current standard
(wouldn't know how to do that) or perhaps just reformat the avi files with a
more current program.
[It could also be that the changes in Internet Explorer 7 due to the legal
suit over ActiveX are causing some of the problem directly or indirectly. By
indirectly, I mean Microsoft made changes in Windows and IE based on the
outcome of the suit (agaist Microsoft), and then other companing made
changes in their software to keep compatible with Microsoft, and then other
companies had to change their software to be compatible with the first
changes after Microsoft, and then etc, etc., etc.]

Subject: [Aireacha] Jerry's multimedia files have a strange error
When I play Jerry's multimedia pronunciation files, I am first told that the
parts of the file cannot be played and asked if I want to see if there is an
update to the file. If I say no, then all I get is the audio. If I say yes,
I get both audio and video. This happens each and every time I play a file,
even multiple times right after each other.
Does anyone else see this phenomenon? Does anyone have an idea about how
this happens? Does something need to be done on the server with the file?
